Sensible Soccer emulator setup

An emulator is a player for a disk you are allowed to own. WinUAE and FS-UAE run the Amiga versions. DOSBox runs the DOS version. None of them ship Sensible Soccer, a Kickstart ROM, or a BIOS.

Amiga: WinUAE and FS-UAE

WinUAE's site listed version 6.0.3 with a March 2026 update when I checked. FS-UAE listed 3.2.35 and points people at Amiga Forever when they need a legal Kickstart. I am not hosting either ROM.

OpenSWOS can also target an AGA Amiga (A1200 or A4000, 68020 or better, 8MB fast RAM) by running the setup on a PC and copying the drawer across. That path still starts from disks or a GOG folder you own. Indie Retro News said the early AGA build was in the 42–50 frames per second range. That figure is one article's report.

SNES, Mega Drive, and the word ROM

Console Sensible Soccer exists, and people search for a ROM hack or a BIOS pack. I am not linking those files. If you want a console edition you can buy today, the Evercade cartridge is the Mega Drive International Edition, and it is out of production. The history page lists which 1990s consoles had a release.

Questions people ask

Where do I buy a Kickstart ROM?

FS-UAE links Amiga Forever as the legal source. I am not mirroring the ROM.

Is DOSBox enough for SWOS 96/97?

For a DOS copy, yes, after you mount the folder. The GOG Windows build is the simpler PC purchase.

Does OpenSWOS replace WinUAE?

No. OpenSWOS is a rewrite of the 96/97 engine. WinUAE runs the original Amiga software.
