SWOS 96/97 player and team database
The 96/97 database is large enough that people want to query it, and small enough that the manual can still describe one player record. I explain the shape and point at tools. I do not republish the 26,000 names.

What one player record contains
The manual and the SWOS article agree on the scale: about 1,500 clubs and national teams, 26,000 to 27,000 players, 146 preset competitions, and a 20-season career. A player row carries a name, a position, a nationality, a career fee, a star rating used outside the career, and a handful of highlighted skill letters.
Those letters are printed as T, H, P, S, C, F, and V. The transfer search, in words, filters passing, shooting, heading, tackling, ball control, speed, and finishing. I am not welding the letters onto the words where the scan does not do it for me.
German name searches and Italian transfer-market searches are the same database. Spellings differ by version. SWOS United hosts browsable lists; this page links them.
Tools that read the files
SWOS 2020 includes a database browser. swos.eu has a tactics board that can browse teams and edit skills. AG-SWSEdt on Windows edits team files and a pool of players. An Amiga editor published in October 2026 imports and exports structured text and spreadsheets. Details and the maintenance dates are on the editors page.

| A searchable copy of every player | Not on this site. Use the tools above. |
| Live 2026 fees | The 25/26 pack replaces data. Old fees stay old. |
| A single correct spelling | Versions disagree. I keep the source spelling. |
Questions people ask
deutsche spielernamen
German spellings live in the SWOS United lists and in the six-language manual. I am not building a second German database.
calciomercato
The transfer search in the manual is the mercato: home or foreign, a position, a skill, and a budget, with cash plus up to two players.
Can I download the full list here?
No. Copying it would duplicate SWOS United and the game data. The manual explains the fields.
