Sensible Soccer 2006 mods

The 2006 game has a small, old mod scene. The two public artefacts I can point at are a Mega Patch archived in 2011 and a squad list updated in 2009. I have not launched either on a current Windows PC, and I am not calling the scene active.

Mega Patch, 10 June 2011

archive.org describes a Sensible Soccer 2006 Mega Patch dated 10 June 2011. That is the archived item's date, not a claim about when archive.org received the upload. The description says it changes the computer's play, offers medium and hard difficulty, and ships three team sets: a 2011 season, the original 2006 teams, and a classic set. It also mentions camera changes, a sound add-on, unlocked stadiums and balls, and new pitchside boards.

Squad update, 29 September 2009

A SWOS United thread dated 29 September 2009 describes version 2.0 of a 2009/10 update. It lists transfers for the Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, the Dutch league, the Scottish Premiership, and the Portuguese league, plus national teams updated to 65 of 68, European club competition entries filled in, and MLS sides represented by DC United and LA Galaxy. That thread is the record. I am not hosting the files.

The base game, if you want a legal Windows copy, is the GOG release of Sensible Soccer 2006. Back up that install before you point a 2011 patch at it. Scan the archive yourself. I have no virus report to offer.

Questions people ask

Do these mods work on Windows 11?

Not verified. The files are from 2009 and 2011. Treat them as legacy.

Is the Mega Patch the same as the 2009 squads?

No. One is a 2011 gameplay package with three team sets. The other is a 2009 squad list. They can be discussed together and they are not one download.

Where is the file?

On archive.org for the Mega Patch, and in the old SWOS United thread for the squad notes. This site does not mirror them.
